I am running for election to the Texas House!
We ran two years ago and were looked at as a campaign that didn’t stand a chance. To the surprise of many, we forced Joe Straus to spend over $1.5M of his own campaign cash as well as nearly $100k in mudslinging attacks employed by shady PACs when the Straus campaign realized we were within striking distance.
As we’ve spent the last many months laying the groundwork for a successful run, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t apprehensive about entering the arena again. However, I am reminded of the Winston Churchill quote: “You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.” I will not shy from the battle.
Joe Straus does not hold the conservative values of District 121. I hope to spend the next 90 days talking to voters across District 121 about critical issues facing Texas. It’s disappointing that our legislature can find time to bloat our budget with $22B of spending growth but can’t even find time to vote on an simple issue like ending in-state tuition to illegal immigrants. Straus only cast two votes this session, and both were to spend billions of dollars. It seems legislation that limits the growth of government just wasn’t a priority.
I appreciate your prayers as we begin this campaign addressing the issues facing Texas.
